About the Department
Public health dentistry (PHD) is a specialized branch of dentistry that is involved with assessment of oral health needs and improving the oral health of community rather than individuals.
The department emphasizes in providing dental services to people who are not only physically & mentally handicapped but also to medically compromised patients. The department includes Reader room, lecturer’s room, sterilization room, seminar room and library with 20 reference books.
We have specialized equipments like Autoclave, Ultrasonic cleaner, Glass bead sterilizer; Needle incinerator; LED curing units; PHD department is also privileged with a mobile dental unit (MDU) with 2 fixed dental units and two portable dental chairs with all attachments for treatment during camps.
The department also established Tobacco Cessation Center (TCC) where interns & staff are posted regularly. Patients with tobacco usage are given health education by posters; audio-visual aids etc. with regular follow ups.
